About Us
Jaffari Cycling Club is a group of cyclists that predominantly reside and ride around the Greater Toronto Area. The club directorship is elected every year, made of six members, and working entirely voluntarily for the benefit of club members.
History
The club’s inaugural year was 2021
How We Got Started
Some friends were road cycling in York Region since about 2009, and participated in some grand fondo rides like Conquer Cancer, Centurion, Epic Tour, etc, and in 2021 decided to form a club.
Our Directors
The first group of Directors of Jaffari Cycling Club were: Hasnain, Zamin, Asif, Aarif, Zuhair, and Ajaz.
Our First Ride
Our first ride was setup by Aarif after the holy month of Ramadhan, as a no-drop ride to Simcoe/Musselman’s Lake/Al-Hussain Foundation. Over 30 riders joined in that day!
More than Group Rides
Part of our goals is to give back to our local community and to places worldwide that can benefit from some much needed financial help. Some of the products that are sold on our website give portions to Naseeha.org and annually we hold fund-raising drives for water projects in third world countries through the Ali Asghar Water Appeal Project conducted by Nasimco.
2022-2023-2024
The Club grows
The club grows to over 50 paid members, masha’allah.
Our Directors
The latest group of Directors of Jaffari Cycling Club were: Hasnain, Zamin, Aarif, Zuhair, and Ajaz. We added Abdullah for his great dedication to sport in aspects of fitness, training, and nutrition. We added Sameer Dhalla to head the mountain biking activity.
Participation in the Princess Margaret Foundation Ride to Conquer Cancer: Toronto to Niagara
2022-2024 saw the assembly of three Jaffari Cycling Club teams that paricipated in the RTCC and raised much needed funds for cancer research. Collectively we raised over $250,000 in those three years of particpation. Our team grew to over 30 riders.
Al-Ayn Cycle for Care
2023 and 2024 saw our participation in the Al-Ayn Cycle for Care. In two years we were able to raise about $45,000 to support orphans in Iraq.
2025
Incorporation
As stipulated in our by-laws, we have grown to over 50 paid members, and therefore now have incorporated as a not-for-profit organizaiton in the province of Ontario.
Riding Challenge 2024-25
As we continue to grow, JCC organized virtual challenges for distance riding and distance plus elevation in the months of December 2024 and January 2025. This brought about tremendous engagement within the membership and also included participation from brothers in the UK.
